
FURNACE VAULT REHABILITATION
STEEL MILL MERGER
The project involved the complete rehabilitation of a melting furnace vault at a steel mill, focusing on improving its safety, functionality, and durability. Deep cleaning was performed using a polisher and cup-type brush, and 2-inch valves and hoses were replaced and protected with fiberglass tape to withstand high temperatures.
Railings with 3” channels were also fabricated and installed for added rigidity, a hinged, non-slip floor was installed for easier maintenance, and the hopper was disassembled to replace damaged plates. The project concluded with the application of aluminum paint, leaving the structure ready for optimal operation.

The RT services team is dismantling a rusted pipe at the top of the furnace vault, using a Stilson wrench.
